Dear God, What Have I Started?

Ok Melody reunion people, this event has now reached critical mass. The number of people attending is rising to an amazing level. I just heard from motorcycle man, John Ryan, and he is likely to be there. He will be celebrity bouncing at the door, to keep out (or in?) the riff raff. Irene Bogner will be flying in from Baton Rouge, and DJ Shaggy is coming for the event from Oregon. For the sake of all these great folks coming all this way for our event I want everyone to pray their asses off we don't get a blizzard! Come on global warming...

I have been contacted by someone who has video shot in the Melody from back in the day. This is the holy grail I have been searching for. He is going to put it on DVD and we might be able to have it playing at our party, and I'm sure copies can be made available.

As for the slide show, time is running out on getting me any photos you might like shown. Any good shots of the crowd or the insides of the club are perfect. Just send me a jpeg version.

We are still searching for direct contact information on Cal and Steve. They should be made aware of this and hopefully show up, since they are the ones who opened the club. Without their vision, none of those great times would have occurred.

If you have any leads, pass them on to me.

As for the crowd, we will likely be enforcing an age restriction at the door. No one under the age of 35 will be admitted, since this event is solely for the original scenesters who attended from the beginning up to 1992. Make sure you don't invite or bring along any twenty somethings, as they will not get in before 10:30. Remember, this is a private event. Spouses are of course welcome.

We are still searching for Dani Day, and if anyone can contact James Gandolfini...He allegedly spun at the Mel circa 1984, but I wouldn't know about that. Make sure the guys from A Real Rain, Spiral Jetty and Dramarama know about this too. And let's get in contact with as many Slaves of New Brunswicker's as possible.

That's it for now, check back here daily for more updates.

Thank you Stiffy for the updates!!!! :)

So we don't have to be on a list to get in, just show our ID's that we're 35. I think my smile lines will give that away. LOL.

Really looking forward to this special night.

Please Look At Our Advertisers (Or The Website Gets It)
Congratulations, you've found the hidden text.

Welcome to Altrok.com, also available at AltrokRadio.com and AltrockRadio.com. Here's where the remaining listeners of several fine radio stations have retreated, regrouped, and built a replacement strong enough to stand on its own. It builds on the independent legacy of New Jersey's FM106.3, New York's WPIX and WLIR, Oklahoma's 105.3 The Spy, the pre-buyout mindset of KROQ, WBCN and WHFS and of every other alternative station that was destroyed at a moment's notice - not because they weren't making money, but because there was bigger money to be found elsewhere.

We've stood by as truly independent alternative rock radio died. Sure, something called "alternative" took its place, but we know for sure that anything that "tests well" with soccer moms just ain't alternative. (Even if some of us happen to be soccer moms.) So we've taken matters into our own hands.

This really is independent alternative rock radio, visible here at Altrok.com and audible at our web radio station. It has the classic music that fired our passions back in the day - or that we maybe only heard about from our elders - but it's mostly made of the new music that does precisely the same for us now. We're paying attention to scenes all over the world, watching the energy build, and waiting to see what it creates. Wherever it happens, we'll make sure you can hear about it here. We've been slowly building all this since 2001, and now that you've noticed us, we're glad you're here.

Of course, it's only here because you want it to be here, and it can only stay if you help it along - especially by checking out our advertisers (they support us) and by listening (the more that listen, the more visible we are.) Please use the "feedback" link above to let us know whether it works for you, and what you want it to be as the future unfolds. (And if you need help hearing it, let us know that, too.)
